Black Diamond wanted a cool, animated, interactive presentation to support the launch of its hot new line of ski boots. Unveiled January 2008, in conjunction with the large Outdoor Retailer trade show held twice each year in Salt Lake City, Utah, these new boots from Black Diamond constitute a long-awaited big deal. So BD partnered with HotWax Media to create a product introduction piece that stands out, offering users everything from videos, slide shows and interactive product details in four different languages to 3D product photography from the folks at 3DVO.
The product launch piece, furthermore, will be leveraged to form the foundation for the upcoming Black Diamond ski boot web site. In this way HotWax Media and Black Diamond have found a way to ensure a cohesive presentation of product information across media while also maximizing the ROI on BD's marketing dollars. It's a safe bet that some of that savings and efficiency will translate into extra ski days.
